The Yagoona shelter from time to time seeks a creative individuals who enjoys interacting with animals and would like to use their photography skills, to help promote the animals awaiting adoption. Applicants for this role must be over the age of 18 years.
Primary Tasks
• Liaise with staff regarding which animals require photos
• Work, as part of a team or independently, and take photos of the animals.
• Spend time with the animal if required to gain their confidence (some animals may be wary of cameras, where as others love the attention and opportunity to show off!)
• Keep record of which animals had their photo taken and in what order
• Upload the photos onto the computer, label files, and edit photos
• Help keep the shelter clean - pooper scooping if required while the dogs are out for their photography session.
• Comply with all OH&S, and animal handling guidelines, to ensure high standards of care are maintained
Knowledge/skills Required:
• Good photography skills- enthusiast to professional (experience taking photographs of animals essential either professionally or your own/friends)
• Confidence, ability, and experience with handling dogs & (small and large) and cats (this can include animals that you have helped take care of at home)
• Confidence with taking photos of other animals (these may from time to include larger animals and birds, rabbits and guinea pigs.
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Basic computer, and photo editing skills, including photoshop or similar
• Good communication skills, including verbal and written
Essential:
• Able to get to the shelter by own transport or public transport
• Be able to commit to one shift a week (weekdays) for a minimum of six months
• Be physically fit
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently

Please note that for this role we require a Volunteer Photographer who can commit to a weekday (no weekend days) as we need to upload the photos to the Adopt A Pet Website on weekdays.
