The RSPCA - The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals - is Australia's pre-eminent animal welfare organisation. We provide a strong voice for animals experiencing cruelty and neglect. The RSPCA is committed to the care and welfare of animals, providing extensive professional facilities, including fully equipped veterinary hospitals and our state-wide shelter network, with approximately 400 staff across NSW to care for animals.
The RSPCA NSW is currently looking for an experienced Team Leader for our Orange facility. In this role you will provide support and guidance for staff and volunteers as well as ensuring that a high standard of animal wellbeing is maintained and an effective service is provided to the public as well as other internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities include:
• Provide effective leadership by leading by example, developing and training employees and volunteers to ensure they provide exceptional customer service and exemplary animal care
• Leading/managing through the provision of advice, support, guidance and coaching
• Clean and maintain animal accommodations
• Observe animals for signs of illness, injury or behavioural problems.
• Administer medications
• Administer medications
• Develop, implement and monitor rehabilitation plans
• Perform and/or assist with euthanasia
• Provide statistical reports
• Stock inventory
• Participate in programmes developed, including but not limited to programmes such as Safe Beds for Pets
• Ensure workplace health and safety initiatives are adhered to
• Support a high performance orientation within the team with personal accountability for decisions and actions
This position is a full-time position and will require the successful candidate to work regular weekends and some public holidays based on 7 day rotating roster.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have the following skills and experience:
• Previous experience leading a team essential
• Previous animal handling experience highly desirable
• Drivers license class C (unrestricted and preferably a NSW license)
• Strong communication skills both written and verbal
• Proven ability to coach and develop others
• Strong relationship management skills
• Tertiary qualifications in Companion Animal Services , Management or equivalent desirable
