Snowy came back to the RSPCA Sydney Shelter with a small wound under his arm (from the injuries he previously endured). Having regained his full strength (and personality!) Snowy has taken to removing his e-collar which prevents him from licking and scratching at scars, so came back to the shelter for a week and visited his friends at the RSPCA Vet Hospital - everyone was very happy to see him again - popping in for a pat and a cuddle :)
Dr Kate kept an eye on Snowy during the week, but other than his arm wound, is doing fabulously well. Snowy is happy being at home with his family and has successfully regained his post trauma weight. He looks very cute sitting with his fur growing back and his Buddha belly sometimes poking out.
Thank you to everyone who has inquired about Snowy and his case. The RSPCA and NSW Police are appealing to anyone with information which may assist this investigation. Please contact the RSPCA on 02 9770 7555 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Snowy with some of the year's worth of nutritious cat food
donated by Hill's Science Diet.
The Snow Man (Snowy) came back for a visit and check up this week and is doing very well! As long as he continues to avoid licking the areas on his arms that required surgery - he can do without his Elizabethan collar! As you can see from his photo, his fur is getting thicker and thicker and Snowy will have a good coat of fur in no time.
A big thank you to Hill's Science Diet for their generous donation of a year's worth of cat food to Snowy. Pictured here with some of his donated Hill's food, Snowy and his family are very grateful for Hill's generous donation. Snowy gives his 'paw of approval' to Hills Science Diet, especially for their "AD" diet food which helped him regain his strength during his recovery.

from the Animal Referral Hospital.
4:50pm - Snowy has gone home. In an emotional farewell, RSPCA Staff, Volunteers, Vets and Inspectors said goodbye to Snowy as he went home with his family today. After receiving some care advice from RSPCA Vets, Snowy's family presented the shelter with some flowers, a thank you card and a chocolate cake. Snowy has entered the hearts of many people at the Sydney shelter and he will be missed by all. Word is that he's already enjoying the comforts of home - curled up in his mum's lap on the couch!
A big thank you to Hills Science Diet how have donated a year's worth of cat food to Snowy and his family!
11:30am - Fantastic news! Snowy will be going home this afternoon. Our RSPCA Inspectors will be picking up the family from their home to take them to our Sydney Yagoona Shelter to pick up Snowy. The family are very excited at having Snowy home, as I'm sure Snowy will be once he's back in his familiar surroundings.
Our RSPCA staff, volunteers and Inspectors will miss the little guy very much, but we are happy that he will be back home and surrounded with his family.
Watch out for a Special Edition of RSPCA Animal Rescue next Monday night, which will cover Snowy's story!

Snowy has been given has come back from the Specialist Hospital with a good report card! The Specialists are happy with the skin graphs performed on Snowy and do not feel he requires any further surgery - which is great news for Snowy!
He will remain with us this week and have his wounds checked on Friday. Snowy is still recovering from a case of cat flu, but is getting stronger and stronger every day - and getting very accustomed to the lime light after appearing on the news on Monday night!

Snowy has returned to the RSPCA Sydney Shelter from the Animal Referral Hospital where he has been under observation for the last week - we hope to be able to update you with more information today/tomorrow.
29 July 2010

Snowy returned back to the the Animal Referral Hospital in Strathfield yesterday and was operated on by specialist surgeon Sarah Goldsmid. Snowy had had some operations on his skin and skin grafts to close the skin over his back legs and chest that were affected by burns.
Snowy is recovering well and - in true Snowy style - is already eating very well after his operations. Snowy will stay at the Animal Referral Hopsital in intensive care for approximately one week, until it can be confirmed that the grafts have been successful. He is likely to return to the RSPCA Sydney Veterinary Clinic for one more week and if everything goes according to plan, may be at home in approximately 2 weeks!
Again, it is only through the generosity and support of the public that this specialist surgery was possible for Snowy and his family. We'd like to also send a big thank you to the donation of time and expertise by the vets and nurses at the Animal Referral Hospital. Our RSPCA Inspectors are hoping to bring Snowy's family to visit him at the Animal Referral Hospital tomorrow, as their visits always make Snowy purr.
21 July 2010
Snowy's recovery has been steadily improving. Just this weekend, Snowy groomed himself for the first time and his purring is on the increase! His appetite is still strong which is fantastic and his wounds are starting to scab up and heal. Our RSPCA Vets have said that Snowy's will definitely require skin grafts to his chest and paws.
Snowy is expected to be in care at the RSPCA for at least another 1-2 months and will require ongoing care.
16 July 2010

Snowy's family came to visit him this morning while he was having his creams put on and his Elizabethan collar cleaned. Snowy was happy to see the kids and purred while they patted him. The media also came along to interview the family and take photos of them with Snowy. Snowy's recovery is still going very well and his fur is starting to grow back in places. Snowy's veterinary expenses have reached approximately $15,000 - Snowy and his family wish to convey their heartfelt thanks to all the generous members of the public who have kindly donated to help with his care.
15 July 2010
Our RSPCA Vets took Snowy to the Animal Referral Hospital Strathfield to see Dr Goldsmid, a specialist surgeon this morning. Dr Goldsmith was amazed with Snowy's progess so far. The Dr examined Snowy's skin lesions thoroughly and said it will be a little while before we will know the full extent of the damaged skin. In her specialist opinion, surgery and possibly skin grafts will be necessary, but she believes with these treatments, Snowy has a good prognosis.
In the mean the RSPCA will keep up with Snowy's current therapy i.e. daily wound cleaning, application of barrier creams, antibiotics and pain management. Snowy is eating well, and today for the first time, he has been grooming his coat!
The Animal Referral Hopsital has provided their opinion and examination free of charge. They would like to see Snowy for a recheck in about 10 days. Their help and contribution is greatly appreciated by all of us, and OF COURSE by Snowy :)
12 July 2010
Snowy is continuing to eat well and our RSPCA Vets tell us that his protein levels are good and his temperature is normal, which is fantastic to hear. On the downside, the road to recovery for Snowy looks long as it may be necessary for Snowy to receive skin grafts to the areas of his body affected by burns. Unfortunately he’s not ‘out of the woods’ at this stage. Snowy’s owners are very thankful for the donations and support sent by caring members of the public over the weekend – your support has been very uplifting to them and to all RSPCA Staff.
9 July 2010

Snowy is making steady progress and is taking interest in the sights and sounds around him (mostly other cats!). Snowy's owners came to visit him again today and were delighted to receive some fantastic bedding and a swish cat food bowl donated by the good people at 'Miyow and Barkley'. Snowy's owners have taken these gifts home for him to enjoy when he's fully recovered!
7 July 2010

Snowy is sitting up today and is actively responding to noises around him. RSPCA Vet Clinic staff and Inspectors visited Snowy and brought with them some chicken, which he loves to eat. Snowy's paws are still quiet sore at the moment and he's wearing an Elizabethan collar to prevent him from licking his wounds.
Snowy responded very well to human touch today, purring when he was stroked gently on the chest by one of the staff members.
The photo above was taken today and shows Snowy with his blankey and toys brought in by his owner yesterday.
6 July 2010
Snowy's owners came to visit him at the RSPCA Sydney Hospital today and brought his blankey and favourite toys to make him feel more comfortable.
5 July 2010
RSPCA Sydney (Yagoona) Veterinary Clinic reports that Snowy is currently in a stable condition and is being treated for his burns and cuts to his ears. Clinic staff are very happy to see that Snowy is starting to eat unassisted and that despite the cruel acts that have been inflicted on him, still reacts positively to human interaction. Despite being in a stable condition, Snowy's road to recovery will be long and he is under close supervision should any complications arise.
We thank the public for their support of Snowy and his owners at this difficult time. RSPCA NSW has set up an online donation page for Snowy in response to requests made by members of the public. If you would like to make a donation to assist with Snowy's recovery, please visit his online donation page at:

A photo of Snowy before 3 July 2010
An 18-month-old domestic longhair cat suffering severe burns to his whole body is currently under care at the RSPCA Sydney Veterinary Hospital. Snowy was discovered at 4am, Saturday 3 July, by his Bankstown owners who took him to the RSPCA.
“Normally Snowy is inside his house by 10pm but last night he didn’t return until 4am. His owners found him in a severely burnt state, with his ears cut and evidence of tape on his back legs,” said Inspector Skye Adams. “His whole body has been severely affected by burns.”
This is a severe act of animal cruelty and the person/s responsible for such an act can be charged with serious animal cruelty (s.530 Crimes Act), leading to five years in prison.
The RSPCA and NSW Police are appealing to anyone with information which may assist this investigation. Please contact the RSPCA on 02 9770-7555 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
