RSPCA NSW operates four Veterinary Hospitals that are committed to upholding high standards of animal and human welfare. The hospitals provide medical services to:
RSPCA hospitals also treat animals seized by inspectors and provide medical evidence for the prosecution of cruelty cases.
It is a common misconception that RSPCA provides veterinary treatment for free or at a heavy discount – as a charity we simply can’t afford to discount our services. Despite only receiving a very small amount of funding from the government and rely heavily on clinic income to keep the shelter running, we do everything in our power to assist people in desperate circumstances.
The human-animal bond is unique, special and therapeutic. RSPCA NSW Veterinary Hospitals have a dedicated team of veterinary staff who understand how important a pet is to its owner and will do everything they can to keep both pet and owner smiling.
Veterinary hospitals also run puppy preschool classes and provide access to animal behaviour specialists.
The Veterinary Hospital at the RSPCA Sydney - Yagoona Shelter is one of the largest animal hospitals in the southern hemisphere and cares for approximately 120 animals daily.
The Veterinary Hospital at the RSPCA Broken Hill Shelter attends to small animals, local wildlife and horses. The shelter also provides Veterinary Services to remote areas such as Menindee, Wilcannia, Tibooburra and White Cliffs.
Completed in 2008, the RSPCA Rutherford Veterinary Hospital is part of a newly constructed $10 million shelter complex aimed at providing the highest level of veterinary care to shelter animals, private clients and cruelty cases.
A smaller Veterinary Hospital, Tighes Hill mostly serves the needs of private clients, but also complements the work of the Rutherford Veterinary Hospital in treating strays and shelter animals.
