WAGS

What is the RSPCA Workplace Animal Giving Scheme (WAGS)?

WAGS is a simple yet very effective workplace animal giving scheme where you make regular payroll donations that then contribute to saving the lives of RSPCA animals in NSW. The accumulative effect of individuals making regular donations provides long term, stable funding for our core programs.

How can I support the RSPCA through workplace giving?

Anyone can donate to WAGS through workplace giving, provided your employer has or agrees to start a workplace giving program in which RSPCA NSW is listed as a nominated charity. Any employer who has one or more staff may start a workplace giving program. RSPCA NSW can assist your employer in this regard.

To nominate RSPCA NSW as your recipient charity, complete a WAGS Workplace Giving Registration Form and forward it to the person responsible for managing your company's workplace giving program.

How much do I have to give?

How much you give each pay period is entirely up to you. It is important to note that donations must be $2 or more to be tax deductible.

How does workplace giving work in terms of my tax deduction?

RSPCA NSW is a registered Deductible Gift Recipient Charity (DGR) so all payroll donations to the  WAGS program are automatically tax deducted. This means that when you donate $10 per pay you actually only pay $6.85 and RSPCA (NSW) will get the $10.

Annual income Donation amount Real cost to employee RSPCA NSW receives
$21K - $63K $10.00 $6.85 $10.00

This eliminates the need to collect receipts or wait until the end of the year to claim a tax refund. For more information about Australian Taxation requirements visit www.ato.gov.au or ask your employer or registered taxation agent.

How does an employer benefit from  WAGS?

  • Payroll Giving is a simple administrative system
  • Builds your business reputation and profile
  • Strengthens community relationships
  • Increases the community’s recognition of your business’ spirit and value
  • Supporting your employees contributes to staff morale, loyalty and promotes you as an employer of choice
  • To give community giving and create a partnership with an established recognised name in the community

Employer matching gifts

Some companies choose to match employee donations - either all or a percentage of the donations raised by their staff. Overseas research shows that matching is a powerful incentive to employees. By matching employee contributions, employees know that their charitable donations go further and that their commitment to community development is equalled by their employer. Matching is an excellent way to support the generosity of your staff as well as a very real and practical way to further your company's community support.

Working with a Workplace Giving Agency Charity

RSPCA NSW also works with Workplace Giving Agencies recognised by the Australian Government. These agencies help to facilitate the development of workplace giving programs within employer organisations.

If you prefer to manage your workplace giving program with the assistance of a workplace giving agency please contact them directly:
