The RSPCA’s Sydney clinic at Yagoona is one of the largest animal hospitals in the southern hemisphere, with 27 veterinarians, 35 veterinary nurses 15 animal attendants and accommodation for 150 animals. The clinic sees 120 animals every day and staff provide a wide range of medical and surgical procedures. It will eventually undergo a complete re-development as part of a $12 million upgrade of Yagoona shelter.
The clinic also serves as a teaching hospital for veterinary students at the University of Sydney and regularly hosts final year students as interns from the University’s Bachelor of Veterinary Science.
Animals in the RSPCA’s main shelter at Yagoona are subsidised through fees paid by private clients. This allows the shelter to care for thousands of animals in need every year. All RSPCA hospitals care for animals who are the victims of cruelty and the clinic supports the work of the RSPCA’s 32 inspectors who bring in injured or neglected animals for treatment. Sick or injured animals from the shelter are also treated by the clinic and private clients are seen by appointment.
We offer the best of care and the latest in veterinary technology. Yagoona clinic offers in-house pathology services, advanced diagnostic aids, dental facilities, ECG, x-ray and ultrasound and also has a range of specialists who visit the hospital.
Yagoona also offers a puppy pre-school and consultations by specialists in animal behaviour.
