Little bit about Moose

Hello everyone! My name is Moose!

I found my way to shelter as I took myself for a walk one day and forgot how to get home again. Whoops! Sadly, no one came looking for, but that’s ok, because I’m now looking for a new family to call my very own. Could that be you?

I’m only a young boy, having just turned 2! I haven’t had much exposure to training in my previous home and whilst the staff here have been helping me practice and teaching me basic cues such as ‘sit’ and ‘down’, I still have a lot to learn and sometimes the shelter environment can be a little too overwhelming for me and I find it hard to focus on learning. So I would really like it if my new owners could continue my training in my new home, this will not only help me further develop my skills but is also a great way to help me settle in my new environment and help build the bond between me and my new family.

I have met a few different dogs during my time in care and I really like the company for walks and a bit of a rough play. I try my best to have good social manners but I can get a little over excited at times and tend to be a little full on with other dogs. So if you have another dog at home already, please make sure you bring them with you to the shelter so the adoption team can help me introduce myself and ensure we are going to be a good match for plays before you take me home.

I have been known to really love my food. Like, really love it. Especially extra special yummy things like bones, pig ears and other exciting treats! When I have something yummy, I don’t like it when people come near me until I’ve finished it. This is something you can help me work on in my new home and the staff here can give you lots of information about how you can help me learn that I don’t need to be protective of my food. But because of this, the staff here tell me I would be best suited to a home who have previous dog experience as, whilst I don’t mean to, my growls can be a little scary sometimes.

I haven’t met many younger humans in my time and I find them really exciting, perhaps sometimes a little too exciting, I can be a little too full on and with my tendency to really like my food and be quite protective over it, I would be best suited to a home with kids over the age of 15 years.

If you think I sound like a good fit for you and your family, please do not hesitate to come to the shelter with all household members and introduce yourselves. I’ll be waiting!

Love, Moose
