Little bit about Rocky

Woof! My name is Rocky, nice to meet you. I'm an American Staffy on the lookout for a loving forever home.

Being an American Staffy, I'm really your typical Staffy that loves getting all the attention in the world and being a sook. Though, I am a little unsure when I first meet people and can get quite bouncy and overexcited from the nervous energy I get. This is why it is best I go home to a household with no children under 15 and an experienced owner as I am a large boy that can get very boisterous during interactions and need the choice to move away on my own. I need an owner to understand I would like the choice to move away if I am ever feeling uncomfortable from an interaction with hoomans or other doggos. Ideally, my owner will know and understand canine body language and know how to manage these behaviours when I am nervous.

I'm a special boy with a big heart that loves the company of hoomans and can't get enough of them! I'd love to be able to go to a forever home that will allow me to have indoor access so that I can stay with my owner to know that I am safe with you as I don't always like being by myself. For this reason, it is best my future owner is home more often than not as I tend to stress when I am left alone. Things like getting lots of enrichment daily and throughout the day is a great way to keep my mind mentally stimulated and also occupied if you do have to go about your daily routine and leave me at home for a bit. Things like lick mats, puzzle feeders, kongs and wobblers are some of my favourites just to name a few. But hey, don't let that deter you, that just means we can spend all the time in the world together and have a solid rock(y) bond! See what I did there *wink*. Lastly, I would prefer to go to a loving home where I am the only dog as I prefer the company of my hoomans over other doggos and can get a little too excited meeting other dogs.

The team at the shelter absolutely adore me as I learn things quickly and know how to go onto my bed and sit when asked! I would love to continue learning more and become the best doggo each and every day. This is also another great way we get to spend some quality time together!
