Please help animals like Buddy who have been through unimaginable suffering.
When RSPCA Inspectors rescued Buddy—a three-year-old Kelpie cross—his neck was a mess. It was because Buddy wore a heavy metal chain around his neck. Day and night.
We know the chain was never taken off—because it was embedded in his skin. Rusty metal.
“Buddy’s wound was infected. If it had spread to the bloodstream, Buddy would have been at risk from sepsis or tetanus. Cruelty and neglect could have killed him.”
Buddy’s rescue took place in a small town in Victoria, but we’re taking in animals with needs like his here in New South Wales too. We are seeing an increasing number of complex cases putting our resources under pressure.
Thousands of animals are set to arrive through our doors this winter. Many of them have urgent, complex needs… Just like Buddy.
Buddy wasn’t only in pain, he was terrified. Animals like Buddy have physical injuries, but cruelty has also hurt them deep inside. It’s caused them to become fearful and anxious. Any behavioural challenges can stand in the way of them finding a forever home.
To fully heal, an animal like Buddy needs care from our vet team. Support from our behavioural team. Longer in our shelter being looked after by our shelter team.
More time = higher care costs.
Please make your tax-deductible gift before 30 June to help provide vital vet care and behavioural support for animals like Buddy this winter.
