Our animals need you more than ever.
This winter the animals at RSPCA NSW face a worrying situation
As the cost of living continues to rise relentlessly, the result is hurting animals in more ways than one:
- Our adoptions have decreased as fewer people choose to adopt because of the ongoing expenses of owning an animal.
- Animals are spending longer in our shelters than ever before. In 2020, the average stay of a dog was 7.7 days. This number has now shot up to an alarming 34.3 days.
- Our own costs have increased significantly. It costs us around $1,000 to care for just one animal during their stay with us. This is startling when we have 1,704 animals currently in our care.
In addition to soaring costs RSPCA NSW has seen a significant increase in reports of animal cruelty in the past year with cases becoming more complex and severe than ever before.
You can help us be there for the animals who need us most—the ones who have been through the most horrific experiences and have nowhere else to turn. You can not only help us care for animals in the shelter, but you can also help us work with the community supporting people to take good care for their pets—such as providing access to affordable vet services, behavioural support, as well as food and flea treatments.
We must be ready to help the innocent animals who need us this winter—the ones who have been hurt the most.
Your kind gift can help fund the special loving care an animal needs until they find their forever home.
