School Holiday Program
The RSPCA School Holiday Program is an opportunity for children and teens to spend either a half or full day at an RSPCA shelter or Care Centre.
Sessions are held at our Sydney, Hunter and Illawarra Shelters and RSPCA Care Centre Tuggerah. Participants will have a chance to get up close and personal with budgies, cats, chickens, dogs, ducks, goats, guinea pigs, horses, rabbits, sheep, and maybe even the odd donkey or three!
If you or someone you know would like to spend their school holidays making some new furry friends, book a session below and get started on your adventure today!
Sydney and Hunter Shelters: full-day sessions are $80
Blue Mountains and Illawarra Shelters: half-day sessions are $40.

Day at the RSPCA
Come and spend a day at the RSPCA, meeting our vets, vet nurses, RSPCA inspectors and shelter staff, to learn what it takes to look after all the animals that come into our care. Plus, you'll learn how to be a responsible pet owner by helping to care for the animals at our shelter, like dogs, cats, pocket pets or even livestock!
Activities may include:
- shelter, inspector shed and vet clinic tour
- grooming animals
- making enrichment items for the animals
- cleaning and preparing rabbit and guinea pig hutches
- conducting health checks on the animals
(We use plush toys for all scenarios. No animals will be harmed during the School Holiday Program.)
If you’ve decided that you want to work with animals, then this session will show you some of the possibilities that exist within RSPCA NSW to pursue your passion. You will have a chance to meet several experts in their field and engage in a hands-on activity to experience what each role entails.
RSPCA experts you may meet include:
- animal attendants
- pet trainers
