Home How you can help Volunteer at RSPCA NSW Blue Mountains Shelter Gardening Volunteer Gardening Volunteer RSPCA NSW is seeking volunteers to provide general garden maintenance. The role involves a variety of duties to help maintain the shelters gardens and grounds. As a gardening volunteer, you will help maintain and provide upkeep to the grounds of the shelter, ensuring WH&S requirements and improving the shelter. RSPCA NSW will ensure that you receive appropriate training and will provide ongoing support for other opportunities within the organisation, if required. Availability: Shifts are available seven days a week Times Involved: 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m Location: Blue Mountains Shelter Volunteer tasks and responsibilities Perform gardening duties including weeding, spraying weeds, mowing and edges, clearing drainpipes, hosing, using a gurney, removing clippings and other tasks as required Comply with all WH&S requirements and other guidelines to ensure high standards of care and safety are maintained Help keep the shelter clean and keep equipment maintained in good working order Check requirements Physical ability to lift up to 10 kilograms Ability to follow direction and work within a team and individually Good verbal and written communication skills Reliable Prepared to get a little dirty Well organised, flexible and able to prioritise Enjoy interacting with people Positive attitude A National Police Check will need to be completed prior to your commencement. Specific volunteer roles may require an additional Working with Children Check.
