Accounting Volunteer

RSPCA NSW is seeking volunteers to provide admin assistance within the accounting department. The role involves a variety of duties to help with bookkeeping and back office functions.

As an accounting volunteer, you will develop valuable bookkeeping experience, and contribute to ensuring stability and support of RSPCA NSW missions. RSPCA NSW will ensure that you receive appropriate training and will provide ongoing support to explore other opportunities within the organisation, if required.

Availability: Monday to Friday

Times involved:  8 a.m. –  4 p.m

Location: Sydney Shelter

Volunteer tasks and responsibilities

  • Data processing
  • Reconciliations – banking and corporate cards.
  • Matching bank statements to internal income/expense reports, seeking clarification regarding expense/income line items, requesting/chasing missing paperwork and reconciling the bank accounts on Microsoft Navision.
  • Checking EFT payments
  • Back office functions (completing credit application forms, emailing, photocopying, printing)
  • Comply with all Work Health and Safety guidelines
  • Understand and comply with RSPCA NSW policies and procedures

Check requirements

  • Accounting background
  • Accounts Payable experience (desirable)
  • MS Dynamics Nav experience (desirable)
  • Bank Reconciliation experience (desirable)
  • Quarterly Business Activity Statement (BAS) submission– (desirable)
  • Well organised, flexible and able to prioritise
  • Ability to follow direction and work within a team and individually
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

A National Police Check will need to be completed prior to your commencement. Specific volunteer roles may require an additional Working with Children’s Check.
