Communications Volunteer

RSPCA NSW is seeking a Communications Volunteer to use their valuable skills and time to perform administrative tasks in a support role. You will be working with an internal workplace platform and managing spreadsheets to schedule and send prompts for upcoming projects.

As a Communications Volunteer, you will be receiving staff requests to help our team update job titles and organisation charts, as well as publishing creative content for internal use. You will provide ongoing support to the internal RSPCA NSW team as we improve the lives of animals across the state.

RSPCA NSW will ensure that you receive appropriate training and will provide ongoing support for other opportunities within the organisation, if required.

Availability: Monday – Friday

Times involved:  9 a.m. –  1 p.m

Location: Sydney Shelter

Volunteer tasks and responsibilities

  • Receive staff requests to change job titles, update organisation charts and respond to internal social media requests
  • Publish content for RSPCA NSW staff (content will be pre-prepared and readily shared to you to post). These will include posters, videos, articles, polls and online material
  • Pre-schedule content and tag the relevant staff members in your posts
  • Edit titles and correct posts where needed
  • Communicate directory changes to the IT team
  • Redirect staff to the relevant resources found on the internal RSPCA platform
  • Flag reported content and advise the Communications Coordinator where necessary
  • Maintain and update accurate records in our internal database
  • Ad hoc administrative duties, as directed
  • Comply with all Work Health and Safety (WHS) guidelines
  • Understand and comply with RSPCA NSW policies and procedures

Check requirements

  • Familiarity with social media (especially Facebook settings) from an administrative point of view i.e notification settings, approving posts, receiving and acting upon reports, mediate content (essential)
  • Ability to organise information and accurately enter data into spreadsheets (essential)
  • Excellent computer skills (essential)
  • Excellent administration skills (desirable)
