Special Ops Foster Carer – Behaviour Dogs

Not all animals in our care can be adopted into their forever homes straight away. Some need extra time, love and support from us. As an RSPCA NSW Special Operation Foster Carer, you are opening your heart and home to give these animals the best chance of finding a forever family.

RSPCA NSW has created a new in-depth Special Operations Foster Care program that will help us get a closer look at the behaviour of some very different and sometimes difficult dogs. The role of a Special Operations Foster Carer will vary and include duties such as (but not limited to):

  • Close observation
  • Detailed notes and reporting of each dog’s behaviour, outlining both wanted and unwanted behaviour
  • Structured routine and consistency
  • Dog training and/or behaviour modification
  • Understanding of the broader picture of the RSPCA
  • Working closely with the RSPCA Rehabilitation Team
  • Provide videos of dogs when left alone, on walks, interactions with people or other dogs, etc.

Given the type of dogs who are part of this unique Special Operations Foster Care group, it is important to note that not all dogs will be deemed as suitable for adoption. Your help gives us further information on each dog so the RSPCA can make well informed decisions around their future, without jeopardising the safety of humans, other animals or the public in general.

If this role appeals to you, please do not hesitate to get in touch and become part of this unique and rare Special Operation Foster Carer group. We look forward to working with you to help animals help humans.
