Tighes Hill Veterinary hospital

Tighes Hill is a small veterinary hospital which serves the needs of pets of private clients in the community. It complements the work of the RSPCA NSW Hunter Veterinary Hospital in caring for and treating shelter animals and strays, and provides veterinary care for impounded animals on behalf of four councils.

The hospital has an operating theatre and monitored recovery areas. This includes private, sound-proofed facilities, complete with an atomizer to reduce patient stress. It also offers microchipping services and referrals to specialist services, as well as clinical advice and support to pet owners. It sells a range of veterinary retail products.

Tighes Hill is partnered with Cessnock City Council as part of a desexing program for the Cessnock community. The hospital is also partnered with TAFE and the University of Sydney, and has hosted students from other universities across Australia for veterinarian and veterinary nurse training opportunities. In addition, there are ongoing opportunities for foster carers and volunteers to work with appropriate patients.
