Payroll Manager – Full Time – Sydney Admin

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals NSW is Australia’s preeminent animal welfare organisation. We provide a strong voice for animals experiencing cruelty and neglect. The RSPCA is committed to the care and welfare of animals, providing extensive professional facilities, including fully equipped veterinary hospitals and our state-wide shelter network, with dedicated staff located throughout NSW to care for animals.

Our Sydney office is looking for an experienced Payroll Manager to support the Human Resources department on a full-time basis. The Payroll Manager is a key member of the Human Resources team and is responsible for managing all aspects of the payroll function to ensure the payroll is processed accurately and in a timely manner.

Role responsibilities

  • Managing all aspects of the payroll function to ensure payroll is processed accurately and in a timely manner
  • Coordinating, directing, and controlling the process and administration of the payroll function including sign off on all payroll related matters such as superannuation, taxation, payroll tax, and compliance
  • Establishing a culture of high performance, professionalism, and continuous improvement that identifies opportunities and solutions to improve service delivery
  • Ensuring the integrity and accuracy of data and information, processing, and reporting
  • Overseeing the maintenance and configuration of payroll and time and attendance systems with key stakeholders
  • Monitoring policy and legislative changes impacting patrol and ensuring compliance in areas relating to payroll law
  • Responding to enquiries regarding pay and superannuation
  • Performing calculations of long service leave, redundancy payments, and termination payments
  • Interpret and apply relevant legislation and agreements, including workers compensation, income tax, and legislation
  • Leading and developing the Payroll Officer

Selection criteria

  • Tertiary qualifications in accounts or similar
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a payroll manager position
  • Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying various Enterprise Bargaining Agreement awards
  • Previous experience with Meridian Sage MicrOpay, TimeTeq, and ConnX
  • Previous management experience
  • Knowledge of payroll tax and Workcover legislation in NSW
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines, including providing timely advice to key organisational leaders
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team
  • An interest in animal welfare is highly desirable
