They are now staying an average of nearly 46 days before finding their forever homes – a shocking 69% increase in just two years.
The pressure on our shelters continues to grow:
• The waitlist of animals whose families can no longer care for them has skyrocketed – up 52% in just one year.
• Many animals need complex medical care, behavioural rehabilitation, and time to heal both physically and emotionally.
• It now costs us on average $1,348 to care for a single companion animal during their stay – an increase of $611 over the past two years.
Every day an animal spends in our care is another day they’re not in a forever home. But with your support, we can give them all the love and care they need while they wait – expert veterinary treatment, behavioural support, enrichment, and daily cuddles.
“We’re doing everything we can to meet each animal’s needs – but the longer they stay, the more support they need. These animals are not just numbers. They’re lives waiting to begin again.” – Kristy Blake, Animal Operations General Manager at RSPCA NSW
Please donate now to help provide loving care to innocent animals awaiting their forever homes.
