Branches

Help us nurture animal loving communities by joining our dedicated network of volunteers!

Our branches serve as the backbone of our work in rural and regional areas. Managed entirely by volunteers, RSPCA NSW branches help deliver life changing aid and services to pet owners and animals in communities across NSW. Our branches also support their communities by running financial assistance schemes and advocating for animals in need.

Unlike our wonderful supporter groups and community volunteer groups, branches are led by four executive members and meet once a year for an annual general meeting. Whether you’re interested in facilitating community assistance programs, organising fundraising events, or running administrative support, there’s a meaningful role waiting for you at one of our incredible volunteer branches.

Join us today and discover the fulfillment of making a tangible difference. Together, we can continue to support and uplift families and animals in need. Consider exploring the diverse range of available volunteering opportunities. Your kindness, time, and dedication could help us create a brighter future for all.

Volunteer Impact

At RSPCA NSW, volunteers are the heart and soul of our mission to protect and care for animals in need. Year after year, these generous individuals spend thousands of hours providing love and care at our shelters, branches, and events, assisting in a range of different roles in countless NSW communities.

Every volunteer plays a crucial role in our success. Simply put, we couldn’t do what we do without our volunteers.

Join us in making a difference and become a volunteer at RSPCA NSW. Your compassion and dedication can help us continue changing lives for the better.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the difference between a shelter and a volunteer branch?

Our branches play a vital role in supporting animal-loving communities by facilitating desexing programs, fundraising initiatives, animal welfare education, and more! Unlike our shelters and adoption centres, our branches don’t currently facilitate animal adoptions. Please note that our branches do not take part in investigating animal cruelty. To report animal cruelty, you call our animal emergency helpline at 1300 CRUELTY or reach us via phone at 1300 278 3589.

Though our branches occasionally assist our community outreach teams, we encourage you to contact your nearest branch, supporter group, or community volunteer group to inquire about the services our volunteers can provide.

Money raised by our branches, supporter groups, and community volunteer groups is spent on addressing the needs of local animal guardians and their pets. With the endorsement of its members, our volunteer branches can also allocate funds to the wider organisation, to be used for events or community programs that promote the improvement of animal welfare.

Our branches, supporter groups, and community volunteer groups don’t rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome animals like our shelters and adoption centres do. They instead raise funds for our organisation and occasionally assist with providing pet owners with community outreach assistance.

You don’t need to be an RSPCA NSW financial member to volunteer at one our shelters, branches, supporter groups, or events. Conversely, becoming a volunteer does not automatically make you a member. However, if you wish to join the executive committee at one of our branches or supporter groups (or want to have voting rights within that branch or group), you will need to become an RSPCA NSW Member first.

Although volunteers do not receive exclusive discounts or event admission, we frequently offer promotions, special invitations, and discounts to events to all our supporters.

Unfortunately, every state runs a different membership program. You will need to reapply to volunteer with a specific RSPCA.
