Supporter Groups

By raising funds for animals in need and giving local pets a voice, our supporter groups act as drivers of positive community change. These groups run key fundraising events and occasionally assist our outreach teams, facilitating positive welfare outcomes for people and animals alike.

Consisting entirely of volunteers, our supporter groups are led by three executive members. Whether you’re interested in organising community events, running administrative support, or assisting our outreach team, there’s a meaningful role waiting for you at one of our ten supporter groups.

Join us and help improve the lives of animal guardians and their pets; your kindness, time, and dedication can pave the way to a brighter future for people and animals alike.

Volunteer Impact

At RSPCA NSW, volunteers are central our mission to protect and care for animals in need. Year after year, these generous individuals spend thousands of hours providing love and care at our shelters, branches, and events, assisting in a range of different roles in countless NSW communities.

Every volunteer plays a crucial role in our success. Simply put, without volunteers, our impact wouldn’t be the same.

Help us make a difference today and become a volunteer at RSPCA NSW. Your compassion and dedication can help us continue improving lives.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the difference between a shelter and supporter group?

Our supporter groups play a vital role in supporting animal-loving communities by facilitating desexing programs, fundraising initiatives, animal welfare education, and more! Unlike our shelters and adoption centres, our supporter groups don’t currently facilitate animal adoptions.

Please note that volunteers do not take part in investigating animal cruelty. To report animal cruelty, you call our animal emergency helpline at 1300 CRUELTY or reach us via phone at 1300 278 3589.

Though our supporter groups occasionally assist our community outreach teams, we encourage you to contact your nearest branch, supporter group, or community volunteer group to inquire about the services our volunteers can provide.

Money raised by our branches, supporter groups, and community volunteer groups is spent on addressing the needs of local animal guardians and their pets. With the endorsement of their members, our branches and supporter groups can also allocate funds to the wider organisation, to be used for events or community outreach programs that promote the improvement of animal welfare.

Our branches, supporter groups, and community volunteer groups don’t rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome animals like our shelters and adoption centres do. They instead raise funds for our organisation and occasionally assist with providing pet owners with community outreach assistance.

You don’t need to be an RSPCA NSW financial member to volunteer at one our shelters, branches, supporter groups, or events. Conversely, becoming a volunteer does not automatically make you a member. However, if you wish to join the executive committee at one of our branches or supporter groups (or want to have voting rights within that branch or group), you will need to become an RSPCA NSW Member first.

Although volunteers do not receive exclusive discounts or event admission, we frequently offer promotions, special invitations, and discounts to events to all our supporters.

Unfortunately, every state runs a different membership program. You will need to reapply to volunteer with a specific RSPCA.
