Community Engagement

Our education team frequently collaborates with our Community Outreach team, providing essential learning resources to help people better understand and care for their animal companions, strengthening essential links within the human and animal bond.

Our Outreach Education work aims to enhance our bond with animals by offering pet owners ways to keep their animals happy, healthy, and safe. It also fosters a deeper understanding of animal behaviours to improve safety around them. By empowering students to care for animals, we’re promoting compassion, health, and happiness in communities across NSW.

At RSPCA NSW, we believe education is key to lasting change. We offer engaging, hands-on learning experiences to primary and secondary schools in our priority areas across NSW. Our diverse resources are adaptable for various age groups and support key NSW Curriculum Learning Areas, incorporating culturally responsive materials developed by First Nations.

A One Welfare Approach

‘One Welfare’ is the concept that animal welfare depends on and influences human welfare and environmental sustainability. This approach calls for veterinarians and related human services (such as human psychiatrists and environmental scientists) to develop collaborative, sustainable solutions that benefit the welfare of our communities and our animal companions.

We strive to empower our communities to protect and care for animals by providing insightful education programs and community outreach assistance. We acknowledge the connection between human welfare, the health and wellbeing of our animals, and the impact of living creatures on each other and on our environment. This is why our support services strive towards holistic solutions that consider the needs of people and their pets.

By enabling and empowering pet owners to provide their animals with support, we’re improving human and animal welfare through a One Welfare approach.
