Animal Wellbeing: Awareness, Responsibility and Education

RSPCA NSW strives to help young people understand their role in building a brighter future for our animal companions.

RSPCA’s AWARE (Animal Wellbeing: Awareness, Responsibility and Education) provides resources designed to help students understand animal welfare. From domestic cats and dogs to even farm or wildlife animals, AWARE provides students with knowledge and skills to inspire them to love and respect all creatures, great and small.

At RSPCA NSW, we believe that strengthening kids’ connection to animals and their welfare is essential to nurturing compassionate, caring communities, which is why accessing our learning materials is entirely free.

AWARE Teachers’ Portal

The RSPCA AWARE Teachers’ Portal provides innovative teaching and learning resources on animal welfare that are designed with the Australian Curriculum and fit easily into classroom programs. Our materials are designed to help primary school educators develop their students’ understanding of animal welfare and health, from providing pets with basic care to supporting farm or wildlife animals.

There are so many ways you can help us protect and care for animals.

As a charity, we rely on a generous network of donors and supporters to provide any training, treatment, supplies, and rehabilitation our animals may require. If you’re currently unable to volunteer, you can still donate to provide essential care to animals seeking their forever home. Your contribution, no matter how small, can provide our animals with ongoing support, giving them a better chance at enjoying a good quality of life.

Even if you aren’t in the position to donate money to RSPCA NSW, you can support our shelters and adoption centres by providing our teams with essential animal supplies. Our shelters keep a wish list of items such as bedding, towels, and toys – items like these are always in need and greatly appreciated by our animals and staff.

If you’d like to open your heart to an adorable animal companion, we can help you find your new best friend at one of our shelters and adoption centres. RSPCA NSW rehomes a range of adorable animals, including cats, dogs, birds, rabbits, guinea pigs, and more! We can help you find a forever friend at any one of our facilities. You can also adopt some of our animals through our partnership with Petbarn.

Becoming a foster carer is another rewarding way to help our animals. If you’re unsure about adopting but looking to personally assist our animals, become a foster carer to help give our animals the love and attention they deserve!
