Hi, I’m Taquito, a two-year-old Chihuahua looking for a calm, understanding home where I can feel safe and build trust at my own pace.
I haven’t experienced many places or situations, and unfamiliar people, environments and activities can quickly overwhelm me. I have a limited capacity to cope with stress, so I need a quiet, predictable lifestyle and a patient adopter who understands my limits and respects my signals.
I’m not currently comfortable walking on a lead, so traditional walks shouldn’t be expected as part of my routine for now. I’ll need time, patience and gentle, gradual support if we work towards this in the future, without pressure or expectations.
Building a bond with me will take time. I may not be ready for cuddles, handling or close contact straight away, so it’s important to let me approach you when I feel comfortable. Calm voices, consistent routines and short, positive interactions will help me learn to trust you. I need someone who can recognise when I’m overwhelmed and give me space to decompress.
I’d suit an experienced adopter in a quiet, adult-only home with minimal visitors and a predictable daily routine. I haven’t had much experience with children, and busy, noisy environments may be too much for me. I appear social with other dogs, but introductions must be slow and carefully managed to ensure everyone feels comfortable. I need someone who can accept me as I am, celebrate small steps and understand that progress may be gradual.
There’s no guarantee I’ll enjoy the activities other dogs do, and my needs may require ongoing patience and support.
If you can offer a calm home, structured interactions and the time I need to feel safe, you could be the special person I’m looking for. ❤️
