Rescuoodles

Cavoodles, bernedoodles, and schnoodles were all once made-up words. Now, fancy breeds are all the rage, prompting many potential pet owners to overlook animal adoption. But while others are searching far and wide for their perfect ‘designer pet,’ remember that you don’t have to shop around to find a paw-some furry friend!

There are oodles of reasons why people should adopt a rescue animal, from their one-of-a-kind personalities to the joy they bring to people’s homes. No matter their background, rescue animals are a source of immeasurable joy, and their potential to be lifelong companions makes them a breed unto themselves.

That’s why, at RSPCA NSW, we’re committed to celebrating our Rescuoodles, the brand-new breed of adorable rescues sweeping hearts across the state! These colourful characters come in all shapes and sizes – some even meow while others bark – but whatever they look like, their quirks and personalities set them apart from other breeds, making our Rescuoodles must-have companions for every compassionate heart!

What is a Rescuoodle?

Our Rescuoodles are a brand-new breed comprised entirely of rescue animals! They come all sorts of shapes and sizes, meaning no two rescues are alike! But all Rescuoodles have one thing in common, something that sets them apart from other breeds: an irreplaceable personality you’re sure to cherish for the rest of your life!

We invented the term ‘Rescuoodles’ to spotlight animals waiting for adoption by reclaiming the ‘oodle’ name often associated with prestigious poodle crossbreeds. By playfully highlighting all the qualities that make our rescues who they are, we can unite potential pet owners with the animal of their dreams.

RSPCA NSW embraces love for all creatures, great and small. Whether they are a pure-bred designer animal or an adorable rescue animal, every creature has the capacity to bring light to people’s lives. If you’re looking to support our beautiful Rescuoodles as an adopter or foster carer, consider starting your adoption journey or joining our foster care network today!

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I adopt a Rescuoodle of my own?

RSPCA NSW rehomes a range of adorable animals, including cats, dogs, birds, rabbits, guinea pigs, and more! We can help you find your very own Rescuoodle at one of shelters and adoption centres.

We also work alongside partners like Petbarn to find homes for our shelter animals. As a result of our ongoing partnership with select Petbarn facilities, you can adopt RSPCA NSW animals from more than 30 Petbarn Adoption Centres.

Though we update our online lists of adoptable animals every day, there is a chance that an animal you are interested in will have found a home prior to your arrival at our facilities.

We strive to provide the very best support throughout the post-adoption process. Indeed, our staff and volunteers are always ready to assist new adopters, offering guidance on everything from breed-specific advice to exercise, nutrition, and training tips.

Foster care can greatly benefit any animal currently available for adoption by exposing them to the family dynamic that shelters aren’t able to provide. The more we learn about an animal’s behaviour in a predictable household setting, the easier it is for our staff to ensure we find their perfect match! Thanks to the kindness and generosity of more than 900 foster carers, we also help thousands of rescue animals:

  • Meet potential adopters outside the shelter environment
  • Recover from surgery or illness in a stress-free, family setting
  • Care for their young ones and litters
  • Enjoy some solitude or time away from the bustle of the shelter environment

If you’re not looking to adopt just yet, you can still give invaluable care and shelter to an animal in
need. Lend a helping hand by becoming a RSPCA NSW foster carer today!
