Adopt an RSPCA NSW animal and get a best friend for life.

Adoptions

Tens of thousands of animals need RSPCA NSW’s help every year, but many Australians still choose not to consider animal adoption as their first choice. They search, far and wide, for their perfect ‘designer pets,’ but they don’t realise that you don’t have to shop to find a paw-some furry friend.

Introducing Rescuoodles, the newest breed sweeping hearts across the state! These colourful critters come in all shapes and sizes – some meow while others bark – but, whatever they look like, something special sets them apart from other breeds: an irreplaceable personality that you will cherish for the rest of your life.

Though you can find many rescuoodles available for adoption at our shelters, others can be adopted from our volunteer branches, and through our partnership with Petbarn.

Rescuoodles are exciting must-have companions, perfect for every compassionate heart. They are more than just rescues: every one of them is someone’s future forever friend!

Uniting animal lovers with their new companions is only made possible by our generous supporters. Click here if you’d like to join them in making a difference to animals in need.

When adopting, don’t forget to bring a photographic ID containing your name and current address, as it will be required should you decide to adopt your very own rescuoodle. Please note that if you already have an animal companion, you may need bring them in for a meet and greet to ensure the animals are compatible.

Note that, while we update our lists of adoptable animals every day, there is a chance the animal you are interested in will have found a home prior to your arrival at the facility.

Adopt a Pet FAQs

Regularly check your local RSPCA NSW shelter and Adoptapet. RSPCA NSW rehomes many different types of pets, including cats, dogs, birds, rabbits, guinea pigs and more. When you have found an animal you’re interested in adopting, please visit the relevant RSPCA facility to meet the animal and discuss adoption with RSPCA NSW staff.

The RSPCA NSW animals who are available for adoption have undergone a comprehensive veterinary check, and been desexed, microchipped, and treated for internal and external parasites. They also have up-to-date vaccinations, and have undergone any other necessary veterinary treatments and rehabilitation. Their adoption fee goes towards covering a portion of these costs and also allows RSPCA NSW to continue caring for other animals in need. A breakdown of our adoption fees can be found here.
