Little bit about Mordecai

Hi, I’m Mordecai

I’m a 3-year-old Domestic Medium Hair with a big personality and a love for the simple things in life. If you’ve got a soft spot for a cat who’s a little independent but still enjoys affection on his terms, I might just be your guy.

My absolute favourite things? Head scratches and chin scratches — I love them! I’ll happily come over for some attention, but I’m not really into long cuddle sessions. I like having the freedom to come and go as I please, so it’s important I can leave when I’ve had enough.

I’m a playful and curious boy who enjoys climbing up onto desks and high spots to keep an eye on everything. I also have a bit of a cheeky side — I love chewing my toys and will happily entertain myself with things like Woolworths bags, tissue paper, or even small cardboard boxes. If it crinkles or moves, I’m interested!

You’ll often find me:

Lounging on a windowsill
Watching the world go by through a flyscreen or balcony
Playing with my scratching dome
Chasing feathers and toys

Because of my history, I’m looking for a quiet, calm home where I can feel safe and settled. I’m not suited to apartment living, as I really benefit from having secure outdoor access so I can safely enjoy some fresh air and enrichment. I’ll also need a home without children under 15.

I would do best with someone who understands cat body language and is happy to continue ongoing training with me. Having an owner who can read my cues and give me space when I need it will really help me settle in and thrive. I can take a little time to adjust, but once I do, I’ll show you my sweet and playful side — just in my own way.
