Hi there, I’m Dozer.
I recently turned five! That’s five whole birthdays of waiting for my very own family to come along. I’ve watched other dogs pack their bags, say goodbye and head off to their forever homes, while I’ve been here thinking, “Umm… excuse me? When is it MY turn?”
I’m a Border Collie x Mastiff, which basically means I’ve got the brains, the loyalty, the big dog cuddles and just enough goofiness to keep you laughing.
My absolute favourite place in the whole world is curled up on the lounge beside my people. I may be a fairly substantial sized boy, but in my head I am definitely a lap dog. If there’s a comfy spot next to you, I will find it. If there isn’t a comfy spot next to you, well, I’m sure we can rearrange things.
I adore my people, but I also understand the importance of having a little quiet time when the world gets a bit much. A securely fenced backyard where I can potter around, soak up some sunshine and supervise important backyard activities would be just perfect.
I should mention that I’m a bit of an escape artist, so my new family will need to be extra careful around the front door. I’m not trying to cause trouble. I just occasionally have very important places to be!
I’ll also need to be the only animal in the home and would love a calm, predictable household with no children under 6 years old.
There’s one other thing you should know about me. I used to be very underweight and never knew when my next meal was coming. Because of that, I can get a little frustrated when human food is around and I think I might be missing out. I’ll need to be fed separately from my family and given the space to enjoy my own meal without being disturbed. With patience, routine and knowing that my food is always coming, I’m learning that I don’t need to worry about missing out.
I’ve waited five years for someone to choose me. Five birthdays. Five years of hoping. And maybe, just maybe, my person is reading this right now. Could it be you?
Love,
Dozer x
