Little bit about Robert, the Rescuoodle

Greetings, wonderful human! I'm Robert, a distinguished 7-year-old Domestic Shorthair with a lifetime of experiences to share. I'm on the lookout for a patient and understanding soul to share my golden years with. Allow me to give you a glimpse into my world and why I might be the perfect match for you.

I've been around the block a few times, and I've learned a thing or two about life. You'll find that I can be a bit reserved at first, and it might take some time for me to feel comfortable around you. But fear not! Once I feel safe, I'm a sweetheart who loves giving head bunts to show my affection.

When I came into the shelter I had something called peridontal diesease. This is when there are dental pockets around my tooth rot which is caused by bacteria, which affects the ligaments and bones around the root of the tooth. Lucky for me, the nice vets took out the bad teeth and gave the rest a good clean. To keep my teeth in tip top shape, it is best if you get me yearly dental check ups and feed me a good dental diet and dental chews.

I come with my own unique set of quirks and needs, and that's what makes me special. Creating a safe zone for me is paramount as I adjust to my new surroundings. It's like my own little sanctuary where I can feel secure and gradually open up to the joys of companionship. Additionally, there's a chance I may need medication long-term, at least situationally, and this would be a decision made in consultation with a vet.

I have recovered from cat flu. It is very similar to what a cold looks like in humans but it is a cat only strain, so you don't have to worry about me making you sick.. While I have recovered, I will always have it in my system and under times of stress I can show symptoms of it again. If in the future you notice me coming down with the "flu" (sneezing, watery eyes, discharge) then it would be best to take me to the vet for a check up. I will need to be kept an indoor only cat for the rest of my life.

Given my shy nature and the fact that I am FIV positive, I would thrive best in a quiet and calm household. A home with no children or other animals would be the perfect setting for me. But fret not – this just means more quality time for us to share. I'm a senior man who appreciates the tranquility of a peaceful environment.

If you're someone who values the wisdom that comes with age, and you have the patience to let our bond develop at its own pace, then I believe we could be a match made in heaven. I'm looking forward to the possibility of spending my golden years with a loving friend like you. I am currently hanging out in a lovely foster home. If you think you can provide me with a magical forever home, contact sydneyfostercare@rspcansw.org.au.

Warmest purrs, Robert 🐾
