Flour, Frosting, and Fur Friends: Celebrating RSPCA NSW Cupcake Day

RSPCA NSW celebrated our sweetest annual event this month! Cupcake Day is a month-long fundraising event that unites kitchens, canteens, and break rooms across Australia to raise some much-kneaded funds for animal welfare.

We thought we would share a few irresistible pet-approved recipes, so that you and your furry friends can join in on the fun!

Bunny Friendly Cupcake

Ingredients

1 x handful of rabbit pellets (approx. ¼ cup)

1 x handful of hay (approx. ¼ cup)

1 x banana

2 x grapes or berries and greens/dried flowers for decoration

Method

  1. Combine pellets and hay in a blender or food processor until they start to break down, then add half a banana.
  2. Continue to blend until just combined, then, using clean hands, scoop the mixture out and form patties with your hands into the desired shape.
  3. In a preheated oven, bake the patties at 180 degrees for 5-7 minutes, then take them out and allow them to cool. They should become firmer as they cool down.
  4. For the icing, mash the banana until it is easy to spread. Chop up your grapes or berries.
  5. To assemble the cake, start with a patty, then add a layer of banana and berries, repeating until you have three layers.
  6. Spread banana over the top and decorate with greens/flowers.

Let your bunny friend enjoy!!
