Tails wagging as RSPCA NSW’s shelters reopen! Posted on October 26, 2021 *** UPDATE*** Important update to operating hours As we all continue to navigate the challenges of the recent surge in COVID cases, our organisation, like many, have made temporary changes to our operating hours. RSPCA NSW facilities will be closed on Mondays and Thursdays, except for our Tuggerah Care Centre and Broken Hill Veterinary Hospital, effective from today, 17 January 2022. These changes are in place to ensure that we can continue to provide the best quality of care to all animals across the state. Our Sydney and Hunter veterinary hospitals will be providing emergency services on Mondays and Thursdays, with restricted services offered via contactless consults for the remainder of the week. If you are attending a scheduled veterinary appointment, please call the vet clinic as soon as you arrive and stay in your car. Our friendly staff will guide you through our contactless consultation process. *** In line with NSW health easing restrictions, RSPCA NSW is excited to announce we are reopening our shelter doors back up to members of the public who are double vaccinated.  RSPCA NSW will remain committed to taking the necessary and conscientious steps regarding the COVID-19 outbreak following the health advice of the NSW government. Please see below for more information regarding our reopening:   View all animals available for adoption here Opening Times Our shelters will be operating with new hours. The Sydney Adoption Centre will be closed on Mondays, operating from 9:30 AM to 3:15 PM. The Hunter shelter will be closed on Mondays, operating from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM. The Sydney veterinary clinic will operate 7 days a week, Monday to Friday from 9:30 AM – 7 PM and Saturday and Sunday from 9.30 AM – 12.30 PM. The Hunter veterinary clinic will operate 6 days a week, Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM – 6 PM and Saturdays from 9.00 AM – 12.00 PM. The clinic will be closed on Sundays. Our Central West, Illawarra, Coffs Harbour and Blue Mountains shelters will be closed on Mondays, Tuesdays and public holidays until further notice. They will operate from Wednesday to Sunday, from 10 AM to 3.30 PM. The Broken Hill Vet Clinic will operate from Monday to Friday 8.30 AM to 1 PM and 2 PM to 5 PM; Saturday mornings from 9 AM to 1 PM (with no vet appointments) and will be closed on Sundays and public holidays. Our Tuggerah Care Centre operates seven days a week. On Monday, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays our shelters open from 9AM to 5:30PM. On Thursday we offer extended trading hours from 9AM to 7PM. We operate from 9AM- 5PM on Saturday and 10AM to 4PM on Sunday. Adoptions (Sydney, Hunter, Illawarra, Blue Mountains, Coffs Harbour and Central West) Our shelters are welcoming in walk-in adoptions; where we are encouraging all our visitors to complete an online application. This is in order to maintain the safety of our animals, employees, and the community. If you can, please bring a smartphone that you can use to access our QR code.  Please speak to our friendly staff if you are visiting our shelter so they can guide you through which animals are available for adoption.  We will no longer be taking online-only applications; our applications system is currently considered in the order they are received, and the first suitable applicant gets consideration.  Tuggerah Care Centre Our Tuggerah Care Centre is considered an essential service (pet supplies) and therefore will continue to operate as normal, following all COVID-safe guidelines set out by NSW health.  Sydney, Broken Hill and Hunter Veterinary Hospitals In light of COVID safety measures, our Sydney and Hunter Veterinary Hospitals will be operating on a limited service. This means:   Contactless consults – our customers will be asked to contact the clinic phone upon arrival and wait outside to ensure that we are abiding by social distancing measures  Our routine consults like adult vaccination/health checks will return alongside elective procedures. We will still continue essential vaccines like puppy/kitten vaccines; sick animals; trauma and emergency patients.   Foster Care Our foster carers take on a critical role and RSPCA NSW is committed to protecting the health and well-being of our carers. Our vet treatments will continue for desexing and any urgent treatment with the current contactless process in place.   Pickups for animals of foster carers are also operating with the current contactless process in place.   Volunteering We have resumed volunteering at our locations at reduced capacity following the advice of NSW health.
